ADHD Assessments
ADHD assessments are available at Hub Psychology for both adolescents and adults.
The process of an assessment can differ slightly for each individual, however a typical process is provided.
Firstly, get in touch via email (below) to enquire, and an intake form will then be sent out to be completed based on basic information and why you would like an assessment (purely for context). The purpose of completing an intake form is to save time during the first session to save time and costs for yourself!
An intake session will then be scheduled to discuss your individual experience with proposed characteristics of ADHD. This intake session can be useful to determine whether an assessment is warranted.
The next step involves completing a psychometric test which aims to assess ADHD characteristics as well as the impact on functioning. Additionally, to improve the validity of the assessment, the questionnaire is also sent to an individual of choice who has known the individual for an extended period of time. Often a partner, family member or close friend.
The next session is a semi-structured interview to ascertain further understanding of the ADHD characteristics that apply, the environment they exist and the longevity of them. This is also a good opportunity for the Psychologist to gain observational data. Following this, an assessment review is then conducted to touch base and clarify any information gaps that may exist, the outcome and direction of assessment. This ensures both parties are informed and on the same page. The final step is the handover of either a detailed written report or the written letter stating the outcome. Depending on the chosen method the provided recommendations and pathways forward are determined and discussed.
On completion of the assessment, the client has the option of a brief letter stating the outcome of the assessment, or at an extra cost, a detailed report inclusive of all background information, assessments, results, and recommendations.
Assessments have capacity to be conducted via telehealth if necessary. It should be noted that if medication is a priority for you on completion of an ADHD diagnosis outcome, please confirm with your proposed Psychiatrist that they would be happy to utilise the report provided by a Psychologist, as some Psychiatrists prefer to conduct their own report which would leave you paying twice!
